Bromley Brighter Beginnings awarded incredible grant by The National Lottery Community Fund
Bromley Brighter Beginnings’ Board of Trustees are delighted to announce that National Lottery has agreed to fund several paid roles at BBB over a period of 5 years, as well as supporting us with some of our storage costs.
The National Lottery Community Fund distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest community funder in the UK. This particular fund has four key missions – to support communities to come together, be environmentally sustainable, help children and young people thrive and enable people to live healthier lives – which are a great match with BBB’s work!
Part of our commitment with this funding is to reach more referrers and therefore increase the number of referrals coming in. This will mean we can help more families, and also work on involving those with ‘lived experience’ (i.e. former service users) in building our service and launching new initiatives going forward. The new paid roles will enable us to do this without putting undue pressure on our volunteer team.
As well as keeping our existing Grants & Fundraising Lead in place, the National Lottery funding will enable us to create three new roles: a Director (to give oversight and cohesion to the new structure), an Operations Manager (in charge of incoming referrals, volunteer coordination and overseeing day-to-day running of the charity) and a Projects Manager (to oversee and develop our specific projects such as A Bed For Every Child and Healthy Homes as well as Christmas in a Bag and our School Uniform project).
Amy Day, who is currently BBB’s General Manager, will be our new Projects Manager, and we will start recruiting externally for the other two roles on Monday 5th February 2024.
This is obviously a big change for BBB but we hope that it will create more support for our wonderful volunteers and will also make the management of the charity more sustainable in the long run. This should in turn enable us to help more families who find themselves in financial hardship.
Please do share the information on our new roles with anyone you think might be interested in applying; we are keen to reach as wide a pool of candidates as possible.
Vacancies will be announced shortly and details posted here: Vacancies – Bromley Brighter Beginnings.
